Santa Cruz Surfer Alo Slebir Rides Potential World-Record 108-Foot Wave at Maverick’s

As record breaking swell hit the California coast last week, many kept to the shore, watching from a safe distance. Alo Sliebir took a different approach. When it became clear that Maverick's was going ultra, this Santa Cruz local, and his tow partner knew right away when they saw the swell forecast that they wanted to get out there, so they made the short trip from Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay all but certain to score some epic XXL waves. However, no one would have predicted what was in store for this Christmas Eve session.

Some hours later, Alo found himself in the record books after kicking out of what is potentially the largest wave every ridden by a surfer. In the video you can see this 100+ foot behemoth towering over Alo as he races down the face and into the shoulder.

On riding what is potentially the biggest wave ever ridden, Alo had this to say: “I rode the biggest wave of my life and thats all that really matters to me, and I'm going to keep pursuing that for me personally.”

Sending our congratulations and tons of respect to Alo and his whole team who clearly are dialed in on the pursuit for all the right reasons.
