FWT is so much more entertaining than slopestyle for me.
I am pretty much sick of watching slopestyle events...how many spins and flips a rider can do on a perfectly groomed jump, blah....
...But,FWT has them doing that stuff on 'real' terrain.
Athletes have progressed to this point, imo, because equipment progression has allowed people with park and mogul skills to transcend onto radical terrain. The progression is a testament to the time spent and joy experienced out in the mountains.
The look on the riders faces tells the tale well....they are having fun! Unlike the Olympics, pretty much every rider has a smile after their runAnd watching these riders push their limits is fun for us watching too.
Carry on!

Athlete does trick... "IT'S SLOPESTYLE!!!!!!"
Holy fuck how old are you guys?
Huge props to the team for making this happen. Insane effort.
Yes the venue is short and there are no no fall zones, but it sure is nice to watch a venue that doesn't involve traversing and actually forces people to link turns. No big flat spot in the middle, just wham-bam-thank you-maam.
Cooper Bathgate had the most difficult trick in my books.
To be fair that was a few weeks ago. Plenty of snow coming over the next few days. Will look like this by March
Or maybe this if we’re lucky

He’s definitely my boy and could be exaggeration, but... (and this was from my first impression shooting and I haven’t watched the replay)
... the dub back was across fall line on a well groomed take off with no real feature to clear. The cork seven was the same but tiny. Across fall line is so much easier.
A lot of the other tricks were off booters and not fall line cliffs with tech take offs, and his was stylie . That being said, someone did a three over the traverse off the second start gate. That was really impressive.
Again, I’m just talking shit and want to give him a shout out.
Trix are for kids.

Now that there's been a cut, any info on when the first event mixing the cut skiers / riders and those at the top of the FWQ will face off? I think those events will be just as fun to watch.
Tom Pfeiffer seems like a shoe in to make it back after winning that four star event and then getting a Kicking Horse wild card on the FWT and finishing 4th. Good way to rack up some points, although I'm not sure if they start with a clean slate moving forward?
Asked before but maybe new info is available: Anyone know what skis Tester is on? Looks like an oversized ski from the Blaze series?
Any future and further steps by the FWT in the direction of the contrived and thinly disguised slopestyle snooze fest that is the Corbet's event needs to be avoided at all costs. What odorous bag of sh*t that event is.
I thought the early versions were fun before they started building kickers and park features in the run out. Now it's kinda like the new starwars movies... Something that used to be slapstick and fun, and now takes itself way too seriously.

Freeride world tour needs a stated direction of what they define as a winning run.........
Natural Selection has a direction, freeride world tour does not......
The question begs to be answered... " what is the Freeride World Tour"
Figure skating has the same problem.....
I’m sure we are all wrong and “sadly” Bill Gates decides the winning run at this point...lol
I guess I’m confused. I feel like the current criteria is pretty straightforward. I think most of the complaints about the freestyle stuff aren’t really taking into account the venues so far and more importantly the conditions.
There simply aren’t that many accessible faces like the Bec. All I know is I’m enjoying this season so far.
I enjoy watching the comps regardless of the size of the venue and presence or lack of freestyle tricks. I'll admit that I enjoy venues like the Bec more as I can relate to and understand what goes into putting together a solid run on a face like that due to my skiing background. To relate to throwing a 720 at speed in a venue like KH I would need to live in a van next to a Woodward location and spend a few weeks flailing into a foam pit to even put it into context. I wish there was a tour that was all true big mountain venues all the time, but until that unicorn appears I'll keep watching the FWT events.

There is a shitload of more or less accessible faces like the Bec in the Alps. It’s just FWT likes to stick to the same locations which appears somewhat understandable to me. Bec is spectacularly for sure but you can find something similar around almost any bigger high alpine resort. It want be most likely so spectators friendly, though.
