    15/16 MAGIC

    The season that wasn't.

Ownership/marketing would be doing themselves a huge favor if they just came clean with everything right now. I imagine anyone who bought a pass is pissed at this point.

Poor weather is one thing, and understandable, but many other areas are coping right now. I feel like at this point they have gambled that weather will never cooperate, and have written off the season.

The issue with snowmaking is a $1500 breaker that deals with the pump that is bad. Guy trying to fix it couldn't get ahold of TB yesterday to get clearance to try to acquire (from Stratton, of all places). So there we have it...it's going to be cold enough for the next 72 hours but they can't pump water.

No chair, no snowmaking...can't blame the weather. Should be interesting to see what comes next...
Grainger, McMaster and Troy all within 2 hours trip and specializing in industrial control systems and components.

So a bad high amperage 3 phase contactor is holding up the works?

Have to ask, what caused the contactor to fail in the first place? Wonder when that pump was rewound? How many years has it been run with the cut-out draw pegged wide open?! Is there any pre-season testing? WTF. So typical. So avoidable. And so sad for the magic community.

^^^read your quote again, it wasn't about finding it, it was about paying for it.

Still no word on the lifts though, we could have FEET of snow and it wouldn't matter.

That 'lectrician was supposed to be out on 12/28 for that diagnosis & to repair it to bring the snowmaking system online - prior to the bullshit claim of a bad power co transformer. Barker & crew are up to their eyeballs in lies and bullshit. I have a feeling that I'll be knocking on his front door next weekend when he refuses to show his face in the lodge.

All the talk/worry about snowmaking is pretty much pointless without an inspected & certified lift to ride.

The lift may have already passed it's final inspection, but before the VDOL/PTD will issue the 'certificate', you have to pay the fee. It is not cheap.

What's the difference? The lift can not carry paying customers. Even if the snowmaking system were operational and they had trails to open, it is not possible to do so without some means of moving customers to the top of the trails. People buy 'lift tickets' so they can.....wait for it.... ride chairlifts to the top & ski down. Apparently this concept is lost on Barker & Co.

I imagine this has become a full time job for the mad scientist. If only he had put as much energy into running the mountain.

I wish you well Magic faithful. Won't be involved afterall.
It's not an ownership group I want to be involved with.
I never did look good in red anyway - even Strawjack says it makes me look fat.

Hopefully it snows or they make snow, hope your lift gets inspected, and spins. See you there on deep pow days.

Hope Magic is under new management in the future. It's the best answer. Peace.

Shitty situation. Seems like the more natural snow that falls, slimmer chance of getting the lift certified.

Although, wouldn't it be easier to get a heavy duty forklift up there as opposed to a crane.. Whatever, this whole thing is ludicrous. Vibes for those who purchased passes.

I hear DISCOVERY CHANNEL is looking for a new reality show. This reminds me of BERING SEA GOLD where broken equipment and financial problems are the norm. http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/bering-sea-gold/

How's the bar open with no general liability insurance? Hope they beefed up the floor.....

On another note, if you were to be injured on site, and they have no insurance, could'nt you sue for their assets?
