    Touring ski recommendation

Looking for something to replace my Wailer 112 RP. My only complaint with the ski is the height of the tail rocker when it comes to tight uphill skin tracks where I'd like to jam one ski under the other. Basically the same criteria (weight and surfiness) but flatter tail. Zero experience with pintail designs, if that indeed does loosen up the tail.
    Thanks

Absolutely loving the voile v8. Not sure if the tail rocker fits your requirements perfectly though

I love my voile chargers. Haven't skied the v8 but I can vouch for voiles being awesome skis.

Chargers are light and have a flat(ish) tail, but aren't as surfy/turny as the 112RP. V8 has a bigger tail.

If you're willing to go a bit narrower (105), look at the Sportiva Hi5 - flat tail with lots of sidecut.

Do you feel like these would be a good summer volcano ski too? Looking to pair these with my amps.

For 14/15, the 112 RP has been redesigned – Going forward it's now the 112RP.2.

One of the major moves has been an optimization of the tail design, which includes a new rocker radius and overall tail height drop of almost 2cm. It results in noticeably more power and stability at turn exit, without sacrificing the inherent playfulness of the ski... I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are already pretty happy with the 112RP because it's a pretty significant upgrade.

Interesting but likely still not flat enough.

rog doesn't need to jam the tails so it may be all for naught.

Really? For me the Wailer 112RP Pure is touring perfection, and while there was a small learning curve to mastering kick turns on steep switchbacks, it isn't that challenging. Perhaps all you need is a lesson.

I need more flexibility rather than a kick turn lesson.

Dynafit Hauscaran has gotten a lot of rave reviews, appears to have the dimensions and tail your are looking for

doing steep kick turns is retarded. Keep skin track angles low and keep the chest beating for the bar.

Oh and uh, get the shaped ones.

I'm currently testing the G3 Ion binding, mounted to G3 Districts. Very similar dimensions to the Wailer 112s, but with a flat tail. Not as light or lively as my Pure's but they seem pretty comparable, with a little less bite to finish the turn and a slightly more damp ride.

I don't mean to bust your balls about your kick-turn technique, but I've found that even "experienced" ski
tourers rarely master this, and that when done and practiced properly, it's a matter of precision rather than flexibility. I just did a quick viewing of the various instructional video available online, and all are rather basic. If I get my act together I'll try to post something on: how to kick-turn on steep skin tracks, in poor snow conditions, above serious exposure, with rockered tail skis.

I'd like to see this too, it would probably deserve its own thread. What's your running length max that you like for easy-ish kick turns?

I'd love to hear more about them. What do you love? What do they do well? How do they compare with other skis you've used? Thanks!
