The Rebar Forest is my favorite terrain park at the wood. I hope that never goes away. While $5M is a lot in KW terms, it is not enough to make me happy about the increase number of folks using the lifts this past year. Maybe they wont come if Vail does not put more capital into the lift system. I can live with old lifts that break down. Crowds I hate.

for my only resort powder day of the year this last year, i was one of heave pass holders crowding up kirkwood. its not going to get better for you kwood folks used to it pre-vail. they will still come whether they improve lifts or not. plain and simple there are way more days when kwood gets more snow then heavenry and those are the days you are and will be seeing increased traffic.

Could that be Bank of America's HSQ ski lift from Tamarack? 5 mill seems about right. Not sure where Vail would put it though - Kirkwood is short on large flat spots. Maybe mid horseshoe meadow to top of red cliffs?

Had to share this shot of Gimpy enjoying the fresh coat from Mon-Tues in the Ebbett's Pass area.

Beside Ebbett's some great snow still exists in Blackwood Canyon (4th of July Bowl-access from the second gate via bike), deep in Desolation (Crystal Range N aspects), and some people even snuck a few pow turns out at Alpine this week. Happy June turns all http://www.tetongravity.com/ubb/icons/icon10.gif

Just updated today June 7th...Woods Lake now open...definitely going to be up there either Saturday or Sunday with S.P.C. Alternate plans are Sonora, Ebbets, or Dana (for the views man, for the views!)

There is another alternate option available, Saddlebag Lake. Saddlebag Lake Resort opens this Saturday including the water taxi (which provides a nice view of Dana.)
I'm considering this Sunday and/or a midweek day next week.

^ LSL you should make note of that. Greenstone Ridge holds snow pretty late into the season and is an easy walk from the other side of the boat taxi.

I'm assuming Greenstone Ridge is essentially the ridge the runs east from Conness, with a north face dropping to Greenstone Lake? Can that ridge be climbed from the south side? Maybe up the SE ridge from Saddlebag outflow?

(dunno why I bumble on this is a hiking, not skiing trip)

Sounds to me like Greenstone Chutes.
I haven't made an approach from that side before, but it sounds possible. This might even be a way to ski Flinty's or GPS by hiking further up the ridge.
If you do take that route it would be nice to know how it goes.
(BTW, descents are easier on skis than hiking)

Myself, Kfactor and Hutchy headed out to Carson Pass ater last Monday's little storm
start off with the traditional shot of the objective, plus nacho

nacho and hutchy at winnemucca lake

kfactor and nacho crossing the creek. nacho jumped in just after this. fortunately it was right before the long uphill

    kfactor dropping

    hutchy follows

    skiing is fun

tried to get kfactor to drop the obvious slot below him, but he missed it

    so hutchy took it

to the fields of joy below

    the coverage is great

    all the way

    to the creek

    and beyond

This might sound crazy, but I really like the "old school" photo/story style TRs.

    Great job fellas.

Powdork, I see you holding a ski pole in your left hand but it looked like you were still wearing that cast at Lassen. What's up with your hand? Healed up finally?

The snow around Tahoe WILL be gone shortly...

    BUT...

How about some Sunset skiing on THE WALL...

    S.P.C makes the journey...

    He lays down some trenches...

    Next up, ROUND TOP...

    Suffering...

Hell yeah, perfect corn all the way...

    Slope Tattoos...

    Sisters tomorrow...

    Bye bye
