Next up, pond skim time. This took a solid effort to hike a few basins farther back to reach the classic pond skim zone. Add extra effort to build a ramp of snow to safely torpedo ourselves across the water. And triple the effort to swim out of the middle of the pond which turned out to be more of a small lake in size!
Queue the importance of good crew vibes! The water was far too wide to ever make it to the other side, but thankfully was shallow enough we could safely get back to shore after coming to a stop in the middle of the water.
Tami salted the in-run to make it icy and fast. We played rock-paper-scissors to determine who would go first. Tami definitely went the fastest and farthest. Veronica won the style points. I was honestly full of butterflies before the first drop in, but after getting soaking wet on run 1, we all couldn’t get enough laughing and boot packing up the in-run for multiple laps.
After we got our fill at the pond skim, we hiked back to camp, packed up the gear, and caught the tram down. It was a pleasant surprise to meet up with the TGR crew at The Spur in the Teton Village base area for a spicy margarita and appetizers.
